Teaching Philosophy
My philosophy of education is focused on the fact that a teacher needs to create a welcoming environment to help nurture a student’s development. I will create lessons design to reach different learning types, so every student will be included. I will also take into consideration my classes’ diverse background and develop meaningful lessons to reach the students interest. Reaching the students’ zone of proximal development will be my main-focus and I will remain flexible when I am in the classroom environment to better reach that goal.
I believe as a teacher, we are seen as much more then just an educator and we need to be conscious of that fact. Teachers are often seen as a representation of the community. Teachers need to be able to cultivate a positive image and work towards diminishing negative stereotypes. Through my life, I have been able to experience unique situations that I believe have prepared me to have these tools. I will bring a diverse and unique viewpoint to my students. I have variety of experience from living in rural Alaska to living in more metropolis area like Orlando. With my experience of different aspects of American cultures, I will be able to connect to a wider range of students. With my personal experiences I can be a show my community in a positive light and create lessons based on the needs of my students.

Examples of Student Speech Assessment
Speech assessments are one of the most challenging aspects of E.S.O.L. education. It’s crucial for students to know the areas they need improvement in, especially in English Academic Prep courses.
Below are two examples of students practicing being interviewed in English and my teams written assessment of the students’ performance. This was previously a video interview. I changed this file it to an audio file and edited the students’ names out with Adobe Premiere Pro. Maintaining students’ privacy is important to me.
